Commenting on 'Silhouette'

Dear fellow CoN entrant:

I have utmost respect for all of your efforts; truly. Previous CoN contests have taught me, however, that I will drive myself insane (literally) if I spend as much time commenting as I have in contests where there were less than 150 entries.

As I said, I know how much time and effort writing this piece may have taken you. I want to acknowledge and support the process by offering constructive criticsm.

My goal, therefore, is to choose one thing I love about your entry and one thing I might suggest changing.

Thanks for helping me become a better writer.

  1. Turnout was insaney insane, wasn't it? Yikes.

  2. I would like to thank you for your support and for taking the time to comment on my entry.

  3. Your comments just overwhelmed me, Aerin!
    Thank you SO much.
Let's do it again sometime. :)

  4. This is my first attempt at any kind of contest. I did it just so I can say I have done this. I appreciate your comment very much and thank you for your suggestion - I agree completely that it would have read better that way. I didn't realize it would stir this much emotion. I connect with you because as a disabled Mom, my entire family has special needs and we all take good and loving care of each other. My youngest child is 12 years old and this was written with him in mind. Thank you again for being inspired to comment on my piece.

  5. i wanted to drop by to give forth thanks and admiration for the excellent job you've done on commenting on the clarity of night entries..

i love that you praise a part, and offer a possible tweak to each author.

it's a delight to read, and something any author worth their salt would be glad to receive.

  6. Thank you for taking the time to comment on my entry, and if you've done the same on all... have a cup of tea and rest, you deserve it!

  7. I'm a really sensitive person and have suffered irrepairable damage due to your taunting comments. Viigina? Oh, the utter shame of it all!

But seriously, your critiques were much better than mine. I had difficulty keeping up.

    Best wishes, JR

  8. Thanks for taking the time to critique my entry. I really appreciate it. You can friend me on facebook anytime and you're much cuter than Stephen. :)

  9. I found your approach to the commenting very helpful, thanks...

  10. I think your approach makes total sense for someone hoping to comment so frequently. Your feedback was great. You were dead-on about his breathing coming in "trousers."

  11. Hi Aerin, thanks for your feedback. I agree entirely, both with the thing you liked most and the thing you suggested changing.

  12. I just wanted to personal thank you for taking the time to read my entry and thoughtfully comment.

    -Tim Remp "Beyond the Nest"

  13. If I MUST wait... sigh... tap tap tap... sigh... ;-) See ya soon then.

  14. Your comment addressed to entrants 1 through 105 seemed odd at first. Not anymore. I have never entered one of these contests before and I was completely caught off guard by the overwhelming repsonse to it. I have much to learn. I will save more time next contest for the commenting after.

  15. I appreciate the comment you left on my "Silhouette entry. Kestrels and grackles... names only a birder could love.

    Thanks, Tony.

  16. You're going to give me a comment? How kind. But I'm nervous. I'm not a writer. Unlike you, I am not masterful. But this is fun, eh?

  17. are you sure to comment on all CoN entries? oh, what a task that is to accomplish...
i'm @35, so it'll take quite a time to get down there... but i'm patient. :)
