Do you think they became subscribers instead? I recently discovered Google reader and now use it to keep in up with all my blog reading instead of Blogger. I know how it feels to lose followers. Don't worry, Aerin, your blog is great!
Yup, I lost a follower today, and many of the bloggers I follow said the same thing has happened to them. I think Travis is right. It's too common to be a coincidence.
I've lost four followers in the last couple of days, but even more alarming was checking my Feedburner stats this morning and finding them down more than half from yesterday. I'm HOPING it's something to do with the Google/Feedburner integration - the fact that it seems to be going around makes me feel a little better that maybe it isn't just me :-).
I've been subscribing to RSS feeds in the Google reader for over a year, IIRC, so when the followers thing started up, I didn't bother following anyone. And if Travis is right and it's some integration glitch that's causing folks to go all angsty and flaily over followers dropping off, maybe it's just as well I never paid attention to it. [wry smile]
It seems like plenty of us are still here, so I'd say you're probably fine. :)
I didn't even know people could "stop" being followers. Ouch. Sorry; I still think you're awesome :)
ReplyDeleteMe too! I guess the followers thing is like the tide--it comes and goes. Doesn't mean we don't like you less! :)
ReplyDeleteFunny you should mention this. I lost one from each blog. And as I only had 2 followers on one, and 10 on the other, it was quite a hit.
ReplyDeleteAlthough I to get enough comments to know that I don't have cooties. I hope.
Well, we're still here Aerin and we like you. Lots.
I lost two! Maybe it's some strange blogger disease.

ReplyDeletehey, did i miss something offensive? dang it! i always miss out on the good stuff!
ReplyDeleteseriously, friend, don't worry about it one bit. After all, they are just a bunch of followers. hehehehe
Did ya get it? *followers* As in sheep, but see, they are *blog* followers.
ReplyDelete[Yeah, it was a stupid joke. Way to teachery, lol]
Blogger is having issues with followers after integrating with some other site. Just read about it.

ReplyDeleteWell that's a relief! I lost 16 followers in a day! 16!!! I know that I'm not that exciting, but I couldn't figure out why the mass exodus.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to hear I'm not alone. :)
Here's a post about how to fix the problem:

One of my blogger friends over here lost a handful of followers yesterday too, so there must be something else happening -- not bad breath! :-)
